Once Upon a TimeTwo weeks ago, my dad stormed into the living room to find me sitting on the couch, reading Once Upon a Time by Maggie Shayne. “Why weren’t you at breakfast?” He asked.

I pointed to the book (well, my phone with the downloaded ebook). “This is more important than food.”

Anyone who knows me knows this. Nothing is more important to me than food. All of my impulse buys are food. The only way to get me to show up to most events is to give me food. If I’m hungry at three in the morning, then I walk to the grocery store to get food.

That morning, Once Upon a Time was more important than food. Continue reading “Win Bestselling Author Maggie Shayne’s Once Upon a Time Boxed Set Today”

Book Review: By Magic Beguiled by Maggie Shayne

bymagicbeguiled-683x1024Many a man has died of longing for one such as her. For her skin has the flavor of honey which contains a magic all its own. Once a man’s lips taste her nectar, he is bound to her for all his days. Be forewarned, then, for her spell cannot be broken. Look for the sign of the cradle moon above the mound of Venus. Be it pale, you might yet escape with our heart and mind intact. But be it crimson, she is of royal blood, and too strong for a mortal man’s resistance.

10 Romance Novels to Read If You Like Doctor Who

72e887e547dc1a48f9231b3952375896Doctor Who is a show I’ve been binge-watching recently, not only for the plot and the antics, but also for the amazing love stories in the show. While most people probably don’t consider Doctor Who  a romance, that is basically what it is. There are the main love stories, like the Doctor’s love with Rose Tyler, a woman he can never be with, and his marriage with River Song, a time-traveling femme fatale brain-washed to kill the Doctor but falling in love with him anyway. And who can forget Rory and Amy, who have to have the most ideal marriage ever? There are also the single-episode stories, like John Smith and Joan Redfern in “Human Nature” and the Doctor and Astrid in “Voyage of the Damned”.  So here are ten books for Doctor Who fans who can’t get enough of these fantastic love stories.

Book Review: Chained by Elise Marion

51trbu9hbll-_uy250_As acting high lord of the house of Toustain, it’s Lady Gwendolyn’s job to manage affairs of Dinasdale, and that includes managing her new unruly prisoner, Caden Maignart. Unfortunately it looks like the only way she’ll be able to manage him is to have him chained up in her bedchamber.

After thirty years of peace, tensions are mounting between Daleria and Dinasdale again. After receiving reports of Dalerians massacring a Dinasdale village and Gwen’s brothers vanishing after being attacked, Gwen won’t take any chances with the Dalerian intruders found on Dinasdalian land. But she quickly realizes just throwing them into the dungeon won’t work, not when one of them is willing to stir up as much trouble as he possibly can to be freed. Chaining him up in her bedchamber keeps him secure, but it causes a whole new set of problems. Like how she can’t hide her thoughts and feelings from him. Not to mention the growing attraction she feels towards him, despite him being the enemy and her being engaged to another.

Valentine’s Day Giveaway!

55b8ec90ac556422867ac9e81e5b9178Hey everyone! I’m doing another giveaway, this time for Valentine’s Day. All you need to do is answer this question: What are you doing for Valentine’s Day?

I know on Valentine’s Day I’m probably going to be doing homework. My boyfriend is coming down to Boston for that weekend, but he’s leaving on Valentine’s Day because he has work the next day (and we both have homework). My guess is my Valentine’s Day will involve a nice breakfast with my boyfriend, a tearful goodbye, and (in an unromantic turn of events) a major study session in the library wearing my shabbiest yet most comfortable clothes and toting a travel mug and thermos of tea as well as a water bottle. Oh yeah. I live the high life.

Book Review: The Queen’s Consorts by Kele Moon

51-0wsoakpl-_sx331_bo1204203200_“We should feel nothing toward her, yet I’m drawn to her– as powerfully as I’m drawn to you.”

If you’ve been reading Lover’s Quarrel reviews, then you know how much I love plot and character with my sex scenes. I mean, look at how much I hate The Doctor’s Slave compared to Mine for Tonight when they (very) roughly have the same concept. The scarcity of plot in erotica can be particularly vexing when I’m in the mood for a MMF threesome. (Doesn’t happen often, but even then I want some plot and good characters.)

The Queen’s Consorts definitely delivered.  Continue reading “Book Review: The Queen’s Consorts by Kele Moon”
