Book Blogger Spotlight: The Bookish Alix

Posted on February 17, 2020February 17, 2020
The Bookish Alix

Today, I’m excited to interview Alix, a girly-girl obsessed with crime fiction. She blogs about books and beauty on her blog, The Bookish Alix.

LQ: Can you tell us what your blog is, in a nutshell?

A: It started as just a creative outlet for me because I love writing, now I treat it like a job. I enjoy making graphics, writing, and taking pictures!

LQ: What do you like blogging about more: books or beauty?

A: Probably books! The beauty niche is super saturated and is hard to make an impact in.

LQ: How long is your TBR?

A: 3 shelves, a book cart and a kindle full long!

LQ: Where do you do most of your reading?

A: In bed! I also curl up on the couch with something warm to drink.

LQ: What’s the review writing process like for you?

A: As I’m reading, I’m always thinking of what I’ll put in the review. If I’m struggling with writing it, I start with the setting, characters and plot.

LQ: What’s your favorite bookish posts to write? For example, do you have the most fun writing reviews, or wrap-ups, or another type of post?

A: I enjoy writing my seasonal book roundups (https://thebookishalix.com/2019/03/20/winter-18-19-book-roundup/) because I challenge myself to write a book review in 5 words or less.

LQ: Do you prefer ebooks or print books?

Print! Although ebooks are easier to store.

LQ: If you could meet any author, dead or alive, who would you meet?

A: Jane Austen, Riley Sager, JKR, Agatha Christie.

LQ: What are your best tips for people who want to read more?

A: Audiobooks and ebooks! Read when you can. Have some downtime before an appointment? Pull out your phone and read. Turn your audiobook on while you commute.

LQ: What are your best tips for book bloggers, or those looking to start a book blog?

A: Audience, audience, audience! Make your blog mobile/audience-friendly, add some audience requested content, your readership is important! Pay attention to it.

LQ: And, lastly, anything else you would like to add?

A: Thank you for interviewing me and thanks to everyone for reading!

Thank you so much, Alix! You can visit her at The Bookish Alix.
