Juneteenth has passed, but the black community still needs support. An easy way for romance readers to show their support is by reading romance novels written by African American authors. After all, the romance novel industry has a history of racism and exclusion and one of the best ways to make amends is to support black romance novelists. So here are 6 black romance authors to read and support and please comment below your favorite black romance authors.
Elise Marion
Elise Marion is the author of the Chained series and I had the pleasure of interviewing her back in 2016. She’s been writing since age 12 and now has over a dozen romance novels published. She writes historical, contemporary, fantasy, and more.
Her books include The New Year’s Masquerade, a story where an impulsive New Year’s kiss with a notorious bad boy might lead to something more.
Farrah Rochon
Farrah Rochon has written over 30 romance novels. Born and raised in Louisiana, Rochon began writing between classes at Xavier University of Louisiana. She’s a USA Today bestselling author and a two-time RITA Award finalist.

Rebel Miller
Rebel Miller is the author of the Realm series. She loves writing about charismatic characters who defy societal conventions and indulging with pinot grigio and caramel popcorn while reading angsty romance novels.

E. Lynn Harris
E. Lynn Harris was a New York Times bestselling author and was one of the most successful openly gay African American authors of his era. Harris became the first black male cheerleader at the University of Arkansas. Later he would return to University of Arkansas to teach classes about African American fiction.
His books include Invisible Life, the story of a young man in law school coming to grips with his attraction to one of his male classmates.
Piper Huguley
Piper Huguley is an Amazon bestseller whose books include Golden Rose Contest winner A Virtuous Ruby. In 2015, she was named as a top 10 romance novelist in Publisher’s Weekly.
A Champion’s Heart is a second chance romance about a boxer and teacher living in Georgia in 1935.
Pepper Pace
In addition to being a writer, Pepper Pace is an artist, a foodie, and a self-proclaimed empath. She loves to write about taboo topics like mental health and homelessness.
