Who doesn’t love a good Disney prince? While some are better than others (I’ll take Flynn Rider over John Smith any day of the week), Disney princes are the love interests in some of the first love stories we know. As wonderfully romantic figures, it’s only fitting they’re each paired with their own romance novel. So here are 11 romance novels for 11 Disney Princes.
Prince Florian: Truce or Consequences
Who knew the Prince from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves actually had a name? All we really find out about Prince Florian is that he has a thing for princesses dressed as scullery maids, and he’s willing to search the forest for them. But for him, I choose Truce or Consequences by Kelly Lopushansky.
Just like Florian has to deal with the consequences of Snow White’s vindictive stepmother, George needs to handle Jillian’s cruel, elitist parents. While he doesn’t kiss her awake, he does sweep her off her feet– after fighting her for a promotion at work.

Prince Charming: Chained
Prince Charming is also an elusive prince. We don’t really get to know him until Cinderella 3, and is that even cannon? However, we do know the ball thrown in his honor was boring him until a certain blonde entered the room. And he turned the kingdom upside down to get her back.
For Prince Charming, I’m choosing Chained by Elise Marion. Gwen is no Cinderella. She’s a noble woman trying to keep her kingdom from being ripped apart by a civil war and it looks like the only way she is going to do that is to have Caden, a nobleman from a rival family, chained up in her bedroom. Caden is infuriated by Gwen and will stop at nothing to prove himself innocent. But the more time he spends with her, the more he’s attracted to her. And just like Prince Charming raised hell for Cinderella, Caden will raise hell to get Gwen.

Prince Philip: Love Fortunes and Other Disasters
Sleeping Beauty is the first Disney princess movie where the prince starts to show a little bit of character. He is completely besotted with Aurora after about ten minutes, and is willing to marry her. Not only that, but when Maleficent kidnaps him and tells him a prophecy of how he won’t leave for a hundred years, he decides to choose his own fate and escape a little bit sooner.
Love Fortunes and Other Disasters fits perfectly for Prince Philip. In a town where everyone’s futures in love is determined by fortunes, Sebastian has to beat the odds when he gets a bad fortune. Together with Fallon and others with bad fortunes hanging over their heads, he takes back fate, just like Prince Philip.

Prince Eric: Bloody Jack
The princes start getting good with the sea-loving prince from The Little Mermaid. Prince Eric is a sweetheart and a dog lover to boot. He’s quickly infatuated with Ariel, but soon grows to love her for real with time.
This isn’t really a romance novel, but I have to choose Bloody Jack for Prince Eric. While it’s more of a young adult adventure story, it does have a strong love story. Mary “Jacky” Faber disguises herself as a boy and joins the British navy and plenty of shenanigans ensue as she tries to keep her secret. But along the way she falls for Jaimy Fletcher, one of her crewmates and the son of a wealthy family. Jaimy being with a former beggar disguised as a boy is about as scandalous as… well, a prince being in love with a mermaid.

The Beast: Room Service
I love the Beast from Beauty and the Beast maybe a little too much. Even though the story is insanely problematic, it’s still one of my favorite fairy tales, both Disney-fied and the original. In the original story, the Beast tells Beauty’s father to send a daughter in his place, but only if she’s willing and I like that he cares even a little about what she wants.
For the Beast, I’m choosing the erotic novella Room Service. The love interest is indeed a beastly character in the sense he pays a poor woman to spend the night with him. But he cares about Lucy, the protagonist, and emphasizes her needing to consent to everything, which is really refreshing for a alpha billionaire erotica story.

Aladdin: Mine for Tonight
Who doesn’t love a thief with a heart of gold? Aladdin isn’t exactly a bad boy, despite his profession. He’s too sincere for that. He’s just a sweetheart in a bad situation and it’s impossible not to like him at least a little.
For him, I’m choosing another rags-to-riches protagonist: Simon in Mine for Tonight. The story takes place after Simon has made his fortune, but his past still haunts him and makes it very difficult for him to trust anyone enough to truly love them, just like how Aladdin’s past still haunts him after the genie has made him rich.
John Smith: Pride and Prejudice
This one is a huge stretch and I know it. I have to admit I didn’t like Pocahontas that much and I only saw it once years ago. But I’m choosing Pride and Prejudice for John Smith, in particular Mr. Darcy.
Just like John Smith is out of his element when he comes to the New World, Mr. Darcy is out of his element when he moves to the country with Mr. Bingley. Darcy is so awkward and shy when he’s out of his comfort zone that he might as well be in a different country for the first time. Unfortunately, his awkwardness makes him abrasive instead of charming, but he’s more than willing to make up for that later.

Li Shang: Clutch
I had a huge crush on Shang when I was younger and now that I’m older, I have a deep appreciation for a man happy to be with someone as fierce and powerful as Mulan instead of feeling emasculated by it. So I’m choosing Clutch by Lisa Becker.
Clutch is all about a woman trying to find her clutch: someone to hold onto and never let go. Her best friend, Mike, is a bartender trying to distance himself from his rich, elitist family, but eventually needs to come to grips with his childhood, especially with his relationship with his father. Shang is motivated by his desire to make his father proud. Mike is also motivated by his relationship to his father, or at least by his desire to get away from him.

Prince Naveen: A Gift of Ghosts
All right, confession time: I really dislike Prince Naveen. Tiana is so out of his league, it’s ridiculous. Sure, he’s nice and his laidback attitude is a good contract to Tiana’s rigid one, but she better keep him far away from the financial side of her restaurant.
Because Naveen is all about having fun, I’m choosing A Gift of Ghosts for him. The love interest, Zane, is a kid at heart and enjoys playing games, even at work. While I don’t care for Naveen, Zane’s hands-off approach made me like him, even while he starts to fall for one of his employees, because he acted more like a friend and less like a boss from the beginning.

Flynn Rider: Her Wicked Ways
Flynn Rider is and forever will be my favorite Disney prince. I still have a bit of a crush on him, if I’m being honest. He’s definitely the bad boy of the Disney princes, as a roguish but charming thief. But despite himself, he falls in love with Rapunzel and is even willing to be vulnerable around her in a way he isn’t with other people, and I love that.
Her Wicked Ways is perfect for Flynn because it features a thieving love interest– with a heart of gold. Montgomery Foxcroft is struggling to keep his orphanage open. Out of desperation, he becomes a highwayman, hoping to get enough to better provide for the children under his care. During one of these heists, he meets the lovely and disgraced heiress Miranda Sinclair and decides to seduce her. Just like how Flynn was a little deceptive with Rapunzel at first, so is Foxcroft before he falls in love with Miranda.

Kristoff: A Whispered Wish
This was another stretch. Kristoff is just kind of… bland. I’m definitely biased, though. After meeting Flynn Rider, every Disney prince is a little bland to me. Kristoff enjoys nature and animals more than humans, which is why I’m choosing A Whispered Wish.
I didn’t care for A Whispered Wish, but there was a huge emphasis on caring for the environment and appreciating nature, just like how Kristoff appreciates nature. In A Whispered Wish, the love interest falls in love with a woman engaged to another man, just like Kristoff did.
